A Berkshire town with several centres
Slough is a working town with more to it than a single High Street. The town centre brings together shopping, places to eat, the railway station and The Curve, its library and cultural building on William Street. Around it, neighbourhood shopping parades, parks and local services shape everyday life.
Langley, Cippenham, Chalvey, Upton, Britwell and Wexham Court each have their own local character. Colnbrook and Poyle sit to the east of the borough. A business on Farnham Road may be convenient for a different set of errands from one near Langley station, so use the actual address when planning a visit.
Parks offer a quieter side of town
Herschel Park is a restored historic garden with a lake, wildlife ponds, mature trees and a nature reserve. Its paths and seating make it a useful place for a short pause, while the council’s history and nature trails offer another way to explore. Access is available from Datchet Road, Upton Close and the Upton Park roads.
Upton Court Park gives a different kind of open space, with recreation grounds and paths south of the centre. Choose a park to suit the time you have, and check the council’s current access information if parking, an accessible route or a particular facility matters to your visit.
Know the difference between a postal town and a council area
Slough is in Berkshire and has its own unitary borough council. Nearby places with Slough postal addresses are not all within that borough: Burnham, Taplow, Farnham Royal and Stoke Poges are in Buckinghamshire, while Datchet and Eton Wick are in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Wexham Court and Wexham village also need to be distinguished.
This directory includes useful businesses from the town and nearby catchment. Profiles retain their actual base, and mobile services can describe the wider area they cover. A listing in Taplow or Stoke Poges should help you find that business without suggesting that its premises are in Slough town centre.
Plan a visit around the part of Slough you need
Slough station has Great Western Railway and Elizabeth line services. Langley and Burnham are separate stations, so check which stop is closest to your destination and consult the operator for current services. A familiar postal address does not necessarily mean a short walk from Slough station.
Use the directory to combine practical stops: a shop, a garage booking, a local appointment or somewhere for lunch. Contact businesses directly for opening, accessibility and visiting arrangements, especially where a service operates from a workshop, home office or appointment-based studio.
